Kava (Piper methysticum) is indigenous to the South Pacific islands where it has a long history of use as a safe and natural way to induce tranquility and relaxation. Traditionally, the roots are broken down and combined with water or milk, and then consumed as a drink at religious, cultural, and social gatherings to help elevate mood and improve focus and enjoyment.
Scientific studies have attributed the benefits of this powdered root extract to kavalactones, compounds that have demonstrated a calmative effect. Kavalactones are thought to help decrease the physical impact of stress, increase feelings of cheerfulness and help promote restful sleep. Although kava is not a true sedative, South Pacific Islanders, and those experiencing insomnia due to occasional anxiety, often report better sleep quality with the use of kava.
Unlike some other anxiolytics, kava is not habit-forming, and is well-tolerated, with no significant side effects. Kava Kava by Webber Naturals features non-GMO Kavapure, a noble variety of kava from Vanuatu, an island in the South Pacific. It is standardized to contain 75 mg kavalactones in each 250 mg vegetarian capsule, therefore helping to support a state of mental calm and increased focus, especially during times of stress.
